Webpage Questionaire Feedback
Questionnaire
Feedback
Five people
from different age groups, in which they state by ticking the age group that
applies and also gender, were given a questionnaire relating to the music video
and the artist’s webpage. Another set of questions were also provided for a
professionally produced music video that are similar in style, genre and form
to the media product proposed. This will help guide the production of both the
music video and webpage to ensure it will meet the preference of the target
audience which are between the ages of 16 and 25 years old. The chosen songs
are 17 by Marc Kinchen was compared with Perfect Strangers by Jonas Blue
featuring JP Cooper.
To ensure
the feedbacks are fair, the set of questions regarding the music video are the
same for both songs which also applies to the set of questions on the website.
There are seven questions on the music videos which are as follows: ‘What do
you think is the genre you would listen to?’, ‘Is the song’s genre a typical
song you would listen to?’, ‘Who do you think is the target audience for this
song? Please specify age and/or class?’, ‘Are the lyrics appropriate for the
target audience?’, ‘Have you heard of the singer before? If so, what do you
think of his other songs?’, ‘What do you expect is the content of the music
video?’, ‘What aspects of the song makes it a dance song?’. On the other hand,
six questions were asked based on the two artists’ website. The questions were,
‘How often do you visit an artist’s website?’, ‘Do you find an artist’s website
helpful to learn more about the artist themselves?’, ‘Have you visited other
artists’ website? If so, please mention at least one website.’, ‘Other than the
website, have you seen the artist in other social media platforms?’, ‘What do
you like about the website?’ and lastly, ‘What do you think can be improved for
this website?’. Based on the feedback, two of the participants state they were
under 18, two were between the ages of 19 and 25 and one aged between 31 and 40
years old. Moreover, three were females and two were males. I have purposely
chosen that most of the participants are in the age range of target audience,
as they are the main focus when it comes to the production of both the music
video and the webpage and in order to meet the specification.
The first
set of questions applied to 17 by Marc Kinchen (MK). According to the results,
only three were able to identify that the genre of the song is electric, one as
a pop song and the other was unsure. The answers can be linked to the question,
‘What aspects of the song makes it a dance song?’ and all participants have a
similar answer in which they said that it has an upbeat and consistent rhythm
which would be a suitable song to create a choreography. Two participants also
stated that 17 by MK is the type of song they would listen as these are the
songs typically played in clubs due to the repetitive rhythm making it easy to
move with the song. In addition, two other participants stated that this is not
the type of song they would usually listen to, the song is captivating
therefore they like it. However, the female participant aged between 31 and 40
answered that they would not usually listen to electric music. Lyrics are very
important when choosing a song that would suit the target audience, therefore,
one of the questions is focused on the lyrics whereby all five participants
state that the lyrics of ‘17’ are suited and appropriate for the target
audience. The next song is Perfect Strangers by Jason Blue featuring JP Cooper.
Based on the results, it appears that four participants would classify ‘Perfect
Strangers’ as a pop song genre whereas the other one was unsure of what the
genre was. The majority of the participants stated that ‘Perfect Strangers’
fits in with the genre of songs they would listen to on a regular basis. This
implies that the song is relatively popular and appeals to the under 18s and of
those aged 19 – 25. It is important that in my questionnaire, I focus on the
age group that is in the specification to ensure that I will choose the right
song for my music video. Similar to 17, the lyrics are also appropriate for the
age group which again shows that ‘Perfect Strangers’ is a song that would meet
the specification.
The second
part of the questionnaire is relating to two of the artist’s website. The
results on Marc Kinchen’s website was the first to be analysed. A general
question was asked based on whether the participants would usually visit an
artist’s website and see if they find it any useful to find more about the
artist and their production. This way, I am able to know how I would construct
the website. For example, if a much older audience visits the artist’s website,
I would need to take into account that they may not visit websites often and
therefore, they may not be used to it. This means that the website is easy to
navigate for all ages. They were also asked if they have visited other artist’s
website and to state this. This is essential so when creating a plan for my
website, I can use other artist’s website as an inspiration and to know what to
include. The answers on both Marc Kinchen and Jonas Blue’s website are quite
similar which is inevitable because they are similar artists. Apart from
producing a music video, the artist’s website is also an essential part to
promoting the artist and as the target audience are between the ages of 16 and
25, I must make sure that my website is simple and contemporary. This means
that I must be able to create a website that is visually pleasing but also
relatively easy to use and navigate around.
In
conclusion, 17 by Marc Kinchen is the most suitable song to create a music
video for. This is because, based on the results of the questionnaire, it
appears that ‘17’ is less known to the target audience in the specification. A
key element that must be taken into account in the music video and also the
webpage is the way of promoting the artist. Therefore, having a less well-known
artist will provide me a wider idea in terms of the production of the music
video and the artist’s webpage as this would not restrict me and possibly base
the music video I will be creating from the previous music videos of the
artist, in this case, Marc Kinchen’s.
